Richard “Bigo” Barnett, the Gravette man who propped his feet up on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s furniture during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, did some serious shopping before the riot, federal court records show.
One week before the riots at the U.S. Capitol, Barnett bought pepper spray, two-way radios and a hiking stick that features a stun gun at Bass Pro Shops in Rogers. Total cost on that stop alone: $189.94.
Barnett didn’t stay in any Motel 6 either when he was in Washington. He spent the night of Jan. 5, 2021, at Hyatt House / Washington, The Wharf. His total bill there, including a few beers and food, came to $289. 77.
This information and more appears in documents filed Monday by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington as Barnett nears his Jan. 9 trial date in U.S. District Court.
Barnett is charged with obstruction of an official proceeding; aiding and abetting; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; entering and remaining in certain rooms in the Capitol building; disorderly conduct in a Capitol Building; parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol Building; and theft of government property.
Barnett is under home detention while he awaits trial.
