Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort track announcer Vic Stauffer has “separated” from the business, likely over a tweet he sent earlier this month about being caught masturbating as a teen.
While Stauffer, now in his 60s, hasn’t verified which tweet jerked Oaklawn out of shape, we think it’s this one:
TWEET IN QUESTION: Vic Stauffer sent this tweet on March 1 and announced today he has separated from Oaklawn.
Stauffer deleted his account for a while, but his @goofonroof Twitter account is back up now. He tweeted this about the separation this morning:
I’ve separated from @OaklawnRacing I thank them for 6 1/2 GREAT yrs. We disagreed about the severity of a tweet I recently posted. Respect their opinion. In LV to enjoy competing vs fellow horse players in the NHC. Humbly appreciate all the well wishes. Our game is the BEST! VJS

We emailed Jennifer Hoyt, Oaklawn’s director of racing, about the matter on March 2 but she didn’t respond.
The Daily Racing Form has reported Oaklawn has hired Jim Byers, announcer at Lone Star Park in Texas, to replace Stauffer.
