RACE FOR JUDGE: Little Rock attorney Robert Cortinez announced yesterday he is running for the seat occupied by Judge Mackie Pierce.

Little Rock attorney Robert Cortinez announced yesterday he is running to replace Judge Mackie Pierce in the Sixth Judicial District’s 17th Division. 

Cortinez joined Cortinez Law Firm in 1991 and has experience in family law, personal injury, workers’ compensation, criminal defense and civil rights cases, according to a press release. Cortinez has successfully argued before the state Supreme Court, the state Court of Appeals and the U.S. Eight Circuit Court of Appeals.

Cortinez has provided pro bono representation with Central Arkansas Legal Services throughout his career, the press release said. 

Pierce announced last week he is running for the Little Rock District Court seat occupied by Judge Melanie Martin who is running for circuit judge.

Little Rock attorney Brooke Augusta Ware has also announced her candidacy for Pierce’s seat.
