Scott Finkbeiner

A federal grand jury has returned three charges against Hot Spring County Sheriff Scott Finkbeiner in addition to an obstruction of justice charge he already faced.

In an indictment last week, the grand jury accused Finkbeiner, 46, of another count of obstruction as well as failure to report illegal drug activity and efforts to conceal it. The third charge against him alleges that he had knowledge of a person maintaining “a drug-involved premises” but did not report the matter as soon as possible and even tried to conceal its existence from the FBI.

Finkbeiner is free on bond and is still sheriff. The prosecution has asked a federal judge in the Western District of Arkansas for a hearing aimed at getting him incarcerated pending trial.

Finkbeiner is to be arraigned via Zoom at 10 a.m. on Dec. 5.
