So you are probably seeing this ad right next to this post, to the right, a guy with a sleeveless shirt, flashing some pale while guns while looking up stuff on his laptop. See that?
That is an ad for Arkansans for Economic Opportunity, which is an organization that wants to encourage the building and expansion of technological infrastructure to deliver broadband internet, etc. to all areas of Arkansas. While it looks more like a lobby organization with a subsidized plan to expand access to new customers for many different businesses and profits to those who can deliver them, I’m wondering why they chose this picture. I just can’t wrap my head around it.
The picture isn’t obviously someone out in the “country” getting Wi-Max access to check on dairy futures. It’s not some business type in downtown Little Rock checking his Facebook. What is it? What does it represent? Is it just a collage of various “Arkansan” traits? Why the red pen? Is he sitting on a wall? Is he on top of the barn because that’s the only place he can get a signal? Is it just a poor choice from the stock image portfolio? I don’t know, what I do know is that it thouroughly confuses me and makes me laugh and also, it go me to go to their page, so it’s working.
If you have an explanation, let me know. Hasta La Viesta, Mr. Rickey.
