The International Greek Food Festival has something new this year: A preview of the Greek delights that will bring out the masses to the festival. The preview will be from 5:30-7 p.m. May 1 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church; the festival will be Friday-Sunday, May 17-19.

The sneak tasting event will feature wine, beer and bites to give folks an idea of what’s to come. This year’s festival menu will include several new items, including a gyro salad, an “improved” Greek salad, a lamb dinner, a dessert called the Olympic Sundae (vanilla ice cream atop Greek donut holes, aka loukoumathes, with honey syrup), appetizer plates of dolmades, olives, feta cheese, tomato, cucumber and pita bread (an Opatizer plate), ouzo cake and a vegetarian platter (the Vegeterranean).

Tickets to the tasting are $20 and can be purchased through eventbrite or at the door. Tickets to the festival, the 35th annual, are $3 or three canned food items for the Arkansas Foodbank. Proceeds from all festival events benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Arkansas, Community Corrections, Easter Seals of Arkansas, Humane Society of Pulaski County, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas, Wolfe Street Foundation and Youth Home.
