The 2019 Summer Field Trip of the Southern Foodways Alliance is coming June 14-15 to Bentonville, where cricket (as in the game) and grasshoppers (as in food? from Yeyo’s Food Truck) will be on offer. Tickets to explore the food and culture of our northwest ($350) will provide access to talks by the Field Trip presenters, six meals (including a fried chicken and spaghetti dinner at 21C) and the aforementioned game of cricket hosted by Cricket for America.

With Angie Maxwell of the Diane Blair Center of Southern Politics and Society at the University of Arkansas and Jennifer Jensen Wallach and author of “Every Nation Has Its Dish,” the two-day event will “explore how the want for work and the need for labor has defined this place and its people,” a press release says.
