WING WEDNESDAY: flats or drums?

The Little Rock School District announced on social media yesterday that wings would be added to the lunch menu at every school in the district today for its first official #WingWednesday. The district’s Instagram page currently has a “flats or drums” poll on its story. The poll has been up for 17 hours and currently flats are running away in a landslide victory with 82% of the vote.

As a former LRSD student, I can’t recall if I ever had wings at Parkview or Horace Mann, but if there would have been an official Wing Wednesday, I think my friends would’ve obnoxiously taken part. And I’d like to think that if we’d had Instagram in 1999, we would have gloriously jumped into the comment section of the LRSD post the way these students did:

“Wing Wednesday is the single greatest thing LRSD has ever done, I look forward to it every week. As soon as I walk in the cafeteria the scrumptious aroma hits my nostrils and this feeling can only be described as euphoric, thank you LRSD.”

Another student called it a light at the middle of the tunnel:

“I am so excited for Wing Wednesday!! i know that after a difficult Monday and Tuesday, Wing Wednesday will surely be the light in the middle of the tunnel. I hope ranch/bleu cheese dressing and a numerous amount of napkins will be provided to students. Looking forward to it a lot. So excited for #wingwednesday

The student who experiences a euphoric feeling when entering the cafeteria responded and provided a suggestion that the district should consider.

I agree! bleu cheese would be greatly appreciated by the student body, but not prepackaged bleu cheese, freshly made bleu cheese dressing.

The district didn’t respond to the user’s comment about switching from packets to freshly made bleu cheese, but it did say it’s taking notes.
