“The Birthrite” is described as a psychological thriller set on the banks of the Cache River. Elizabeth, a female insurance adjuster, is abducted by a slow-witted man, Charlie, and his mother, who live like hermits on the Cache, in Eastern Arkansas. The “birthrite” refers to who will take care of Charlie after his mother is gone. Will it be the kidnapped adjuster?

Maness, who directed and produced “The Birthrite,” has produced award-winning work in both outdoors programming and music videos. Maness directed “Top Cop” for Crown International and the award-winning inspirational film “Tomorrow Never Comes” for TNC productions. Maness also was director of photography and editor for the Dove Award-winning film “Little Marines II.” He has also produced and directed numerous hunting and fishing programs.

Files is the author of the novel “Close to the Edge” and wrote the screenplay for the movie. His poetry and short stories have garnered awards, and he’s writing a new mystery novel, “In the Fading Light.”

Admission to the screenings is $7.50.
