The acclaimed Janaki String Trio, from Los Angeles, comes to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church courtesy of the Chamber Music Society, 7:30 p.m., $10-$20. Chris Bowen has moved his popular Thirsty Thursdays party from Juanita’s to On the Rocks. DJ King Akeem and Deja Blue still man the ones and twos and the music still starts at 8 p.m. with early admission $5 for ladies and $10 for guys. It’s a double-bill of up-and-coming Oklahoma rockers with Colourmusic and the Uglysuit at Sticky Fingerz, 9 p.m., $5.

Hugely popular Christian soft-rock act Casting Crowns comes to Verizon Arena, 7:30 p.m., $19-$76.75. Long time college rock favorites Jackopierce return to Revolution, 8:30 p.m., $15. At Sticky Fingerz, Fayetteville’s Benjamin Del Shreve plays throwback rock ‘n’ roll, 9 p.m., $6; Falcon Scott opens. Cameron Holifield, of Cool Shoes visual effects fame, branches out into DJing with a gig at Satellite, 9 p.m., free. John Craig typically does blues at SpeakEasy, but maybe in the wake of the Oxford American’s focus on True Soul he can be talked into reviving some old Little Rock soul, 9 p.m., free. The Arkansas Arts Center’s Children’s Theatre presents “Merry Christmas, Mouse,” 7 p.m., $11-$14.

SATURDAY 12/5

The annual Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Second and Broadway before proceeding west on Capitol Avenue. The parade culminates with a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Capitol, where the Top of the Rock Chorus performs. Atlanta rap-rock act Rehab comes to Juanita’s behind its hit “Bartender Song (Sittin’ a Bar)”; Aranda, Almost Kings and Soul Stash open, $12 adv., $15 d.o.s. Local country-rock favorites Good Time Ramblers share the stage with Benton’s Alan Hunt Band at Sticky Fingerz, 9 p.m., $5. At White Water, Kevin Kerby and Battery celebrate the vinyl release “Beautiful & Bright,” 10 p.m., $5. Popular African-American comedian Sommore comes to Robinson Center Music Hall behind her new DVD “The Queen Stands Alone,” 8 p.m., $35.50-$39.50. At Downtown music, Fayetteville death metal champs VORE share a bill with Texas’ HOD, Fayetteville’s Deadbird and Iron Tongue, which features members of North Little Rock sludge band Rwake, 9 p.m., $6.
