Wiggles return
Australia’s The Wiggles, entertainers of the pre-school crowd, will perform two shows at Alltel Arena Tuesday, Aug. 9.
The group, seen on the Disney Channel, will bring along its usual friends (Capt. Feathersword, Henry the Octopus, Wags the Dog, Dorothy the Dinosaur and the Wiggly Dancers) and the Wiggles themselves will spend time mingling with the audience.
Shows are at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $30 and are available through Ticketmaster outlets or the arena box office.
‘White Chicks …’ continues
“A Coupla White Chicks Sittin’ Around Talkin’ ” starring Natalie Canerday and Nora Wells continues this week at the Public Theatre, 616 Center St.
The show is set in a well-equipped Westchester kitchen and describes a week in the life of two sharply different housewives. Maude Mix (Wells) is a no-nonsense, strait-laced WASP who is governed by the attitudes of Better Homes and Gardens. Hannah Mae Bindler (Canerday) is a bawdy and bold ex-cheerleader from Austin, Texas, who has just moved in next door. At first grudgingly, and then wholeheartedly, these two opposites become the best of friends.
Canerday, whose resume includes the films “Sling Blade” and “October Sky,” is a regular with Wells in Murry’s Dinner Playhouse shows.
Curtain is 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors. Call 374-7529.
