A message from the publisher

Dear Reader,

As newsrooms all across America are shutting their doors and powerful interests are running amok, concerned citizens like you keep asking themselves: What can I do to help?

Here’s one way: Donate to the Arkansas Times editorial fundraising effort and join us in the fight for truth in Arkansas.

Early Arkansas Times employees at The Shack

Just this past year, with the help of our loyal donors, Arkansas Times has added three outstanding reporters to our staff.

And we’re just getting started. Help support great journalism in Arkansas.

In June, we hired veteran, award-winning reporter, Debra Hale-Shelton who has been breaking story after story. Debra is a tremendous talent.

In July, we hired a top journalist from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville master's program, Mary Hennigan. Her main beat is City Hall, a hotbed of intrigue this campaign year, and the drama isn’t likely to subside any time soon. Mary’s reporting continues to impress us with its depth and substance.

In December, we hired Daniel Grear, a Hendrix College graduate who has an MFA from the University of North of North Carolina Wilmington, to be our new culture editor. Daniel's hiring will allow veteran editor Stephanie Smittle to move into the role of managing editor, freeing up editors Lindsey Millar and Austin Bailey to do more reporting.

You, too, can power the Arkansas Times. You, too, can support fearless journalism. Let us be your voice in the fight.

We offer three levels of monthly giving and a one-time gift option. Each donation includes an online subscription to the Arkansas Times.

Say yes, I want to help Arkansas Times and pick your level of support.

Please give whatever you can and be assured that all donations will go directly into our editorial hiring fund and allow us to add more journalists to our thriving newsroom.

Be a part of the Arkansas Times. Experience the power of great journalism. Support the Arkansas Times.

Sincerely,
