Here’s how to read about or hear Mary Lewis, the Arkansas opera star.
Book: “Mary Lewis: The Golden Haired Beauty with the Golden Voice” by Alice Zeman was published by Little Rock’s Rose Publishing Company in 2001. It is available at Wordsworth, among other Arkansas bookstores, and Rose, 2723 Foxcroft Road, Room 208, Little Rock, 72227. It retails for $24.99.
Recording: “Mary Lewis: The Golden Haired Soprano” is a two-CD set issued by Marston Records of Swarthmore, Pa., and costs $32. It’s available on-line at www.marstonrecords.com and at some local stores, including in combination with the Zeman Book at Wordsworth and some other outlets. The first CD contains all of her acoustic HMV and electric Victor recordings. The second CD has material from radio transcriptions.
With grant money, the book and CD also are to be placed in public libraries around the state.
