AACVPR re-awards national certification to St. Joseph’s Cardiac Rehab Program
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – For the second time since earning national certification in September of 2000, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center has been re-awarded national certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).
AACVPR is a national, multi-disciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve.
With that in mind, the association’s certification recognizes rigorously reviewed programs nationwide that have been found to meet outlined essential requirements for standards of care. The St. Joseph’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program earned three-year certifications from the AACVPR in September of 2000 and 2003, so this latest three-year period of affirmation will not expire until September of 2009.
Cardiac rehabilitation programs are designed to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac illness. They reduce the risk for sudden death or relapse, control cardiac symptoms, stabilize and improve the patient’s condition and enhance quality of life.
The St. Joseph’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, which opened both its inpatient and outpatient divisions in May of 1989, is one of only six programs in Arkansas that is nationally certified by the AACVPR.
