We’re still recovering from the Shop n’ Sip (Boondogs, Rob and Tyndall, William Staggers) Southern Culture on the Skids, and Jimbo Mathus shows we attended last night … but you kids go have fun tonight:

Jeff Coleman and the Feeders appear tonigh at White Water Tavern. Here’s our take on them: The official drinking man’s band from dry White County, Jeff Coleman and the Feeders, is at White Water Tavern on Friday, May 5. All those years of living around teetotalers is bound to produce the hard-rocking good-time whiskey-drinking ballads that Coleman and company have composed. You’ll have a dang good time. They’ll start at 10 p.m. and the cover charge is $5.

We’ve seen Rhett Butler before when he opened for Tony Trischka a couple of years back. He’s the guy you’ve probably heard about that plays two guitars at once. It is amazing. Catch him at 2nd Place Cafe (in the Second Baptist Church at Eighth and Cumberland streets) on Friday, May 5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $6.

At the River Market, the “running of the bars” event takes place at 8 p.m. tonight. Staff from Gusano’s, Flying Saucer, Underground Pub, Ernie Biggs, Willie D’s and Sticky Fingerz will participate in a “biathlon” of sorts where they (on foot and tricycle) race to see who can go through all the area bars, collect a trinket and cross the finish line. A $10 writsband gets you in to all bars tonight, including the big Max Recordings 5th anniversary celebration with Big Silver, Kevin Kerby and Battery and American Princes at Sticky Fingerz. You could be in the movies: New York-based Matson Films will have a crew there to capture the music and revelry tonight. It’s $8 otherwise.

Underground Pub makes Sweet Revenge tonight, as in the band. Flying Saucer has the Dread Knoughts. The dueling dueling piano bars have dueling piano players. It’s a $5 cover for each place, or again, you can get a $10 wristband and get in all clubs.

For the West Little Rock folks: Grumpy’s has a big blow-out each year for Cinco de Mayo, and they’ll have the great R&B and funk cover band First Impressions band. Fun is guaranteed. No cover, free mudbugs mmmmmmm …

Poptart Monkeys are at West End, a repeat from last night. 10 p.m. $5.

Cornerstone Deli and Pub will have their jam on … DayBreakDown is the band. Cover is $5.
