News from the band Cracker’s website: Guitarist/frontman/founder David Lowery will be working with Lucero in the studio. Memphis-based Lucero, as many of you may know, includes Little Rock’s Ben Nichols. Plus, American Princes, from Little Rock, recorded at Lowery’s Richmond, Va., studio, and AP credits its being “dicovered” by the Yep Roc label to a chance listening to an AP demo by a Yep Roc exec when he was hanging with Lucero, trying to court that band. Here’s what the Cracker website says:
Thu May 18, 2006 (7:50pm) Cracker’s David Lowery will be going into the studio for two weeks with the indie band Lucero. Whether it was their “honest music” that connected this country-punk ensemble to Lowery, their past label woes, or having also recorded one of their more important records in a barn, the band has enlisted Lowery for a two-week, early-summer production session. Lucero released their first album (of seven) in 2000, and even had an acclaimed documentary which screened at CMJ written about their music and their history.
Cracker will be coming to Little Rock June 12.
