The local amateur theaters are opening up a couple of big musicals: The Weekend Theater at 7th and Chester has “Miss Saigon” for the next three weekends, and they also have new Friday and Saturday showtimes, going with 7:30 p.m. from here until who knows. Sunday’s matinee is 2:30 p.m.; the Community Theatre of Little Rock celebrates the end of its 50th season with “Damn Yankees,” the musical comedy about the old man who’s a Senators fan (ask your dad or mom, they might remember the Senators) who sells his soul to the devil to beat the Yankees. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Woolly Auditorium on the Blind School campus.

For both, you need to reserve a seat now: call 374-3761 for the Weekend Theater and 663-9494 for CTLR.

You might still be able to cop a ticket to the Temptations Revue tonight at Robinson Center (7:30 p.m., $25) with Jerry Butler and Harry Melvin and the Blue Notes part of the show. It’s   part of the big entertainment weekend around the Omega Psi Phi Grand Conclave going on through July 28 around the Peabody, Doubletree, Statehouse Convention Center and the River Market district. There is also a party tent by the River Market that will be jamming with music and more this weekend. At Gusano’s tonight, Lucious Spiller is entertaining the crowd, he told us this morning.
