Cooper’s Orbit.

We just announced the winner before a nice gathering of bands and their fans at Sticky Fingerz. It was fairly short and sweet.

Chris Henry, the frontman for Cooper’s Orbit, finished runner-up in last year’s Showcase as a solo act. This year, his band outdistanced Jeff Coleman and the Feeders by 8 points. But it was a tight race among all five finalists who performed Friday night before more than 700 fans at the Revolution Music Room.

Cooper’s Orbit wins a slot in Riverfest, $300 in merchandise from Jacksonville Guitar, $200 in food from Trio’s Restaurant, a Brian Chilson photo shoot, four cases of Red Bull and recording time from Blue Chair Studio.

So, six weeks of Showcase nights are over. Come November, we’ll be requesting entries again.
