‘Runway’ alum Mychael Knight and Korto Momolu

Korto Momolu, a Little Rock based fashion designer who Jennifer Reed wrote about in the cover story “Homemade Clothes,” is one of the 16 finalists on cycle 5 of “Project Runway,” which debuts on Wednesday on Bravo.

Momolu, born in Liberia and raised primarily in Canada, moved to Little Rock eight years ago with her husband. She’s been pursuing fashion full-time for two years.

Drawing from her African roots, Korto infuses tribal details into her classic designs. She is inspired by rich fabrics and textures and says her designs are intended for real, full-figured women. In her spare time, Korto works as a freelance fashion photographer, dances in an African dance troupe and does African hair braiding and makeup.
