*Download at will, music pirates. The RIAA, the trade group that represents the music industry, is set to abandon mass lawsuits targeted at file-sharers. Instead, according to the Wall Street Journal, the group says it’s “hashed out preliminary agreements” with major internet service providers, under the terms of which the ISPs might first implore users to stop file-sharing via an email or two, then, perhaps, slow down service before, finally, cutting off service altogether.
*If you didn’t make it all the way to the end of Philip Martin’s review of “Seven Pounds” today (“It’s a dumb movie put together by people who think they’re a lot smarter than their prospective audience”) or didn’t catch A.O. Scott’s hilarious pan in the New York Times (“[it] may be among the most transcendently, eye-poppingly, call-your-friend-ranting-in-the-middle-of-the-night-just-to-go-over-it-one-more-time crazily awful motion pictures ever made”), Vulture does what neither of these critics nor any of their colleagues do for fear of never getting a screening from Sony again. They spoil the plot. And MAN if it doesn’t sound epically bad.
