I half watched the Oscars while I tried, and failed, to paint a straight line on a bookcase.

My observations are few and probably typical: The show was as interminable (even fast forwarding on TiVo) and predictable as ever. Hugh Jackman was surprisingly not bad (but I was in another room for “the musical is back” bit). Mickey Rourke may not’ve gotten robbed (I actively dislike Sean Penn, but he was fantastic in “Milk”), but the world got robbed of what would’ve undoubtedly been the greatest acceptance speech in Oscar history, full of cursing and long-winded shout-outs to his recently dead chihuahua
