Anime-zing.

Tonight marks the halfway point of Hot Springs’ VOV festival with night three’s lineup of, on one hand, pop-punk and ska at Low Key and rockabilly burlesque at Maxine’s. Appropriately, one’s all ages, the other’s 21 and up.

Low Key’s poppy offerings kick off at 7 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.) with pogo-worthy ska from Oklahoma in The Last Slice, Warped Tourers The Jukebox Romantics, anthemic Nebraskan ska with Bottlerocket, Japanese power poppers, Uzuhi (pictured above), brass-filled girl bop with Heat Machine and, finally, Conway’s own hardcore emo-metal group Fire to Reason.

Back on Central Ave., Maxine’s has Reverend Deadeye, a one man band on pedal-heavy steel guitar and drums, Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolls, rockabilly outfit with Bettie Page lovin’ hypewomen alongside long-time burlesque show kittens, The Memphis Belles.
