Union in Riverdale and Capitol View’s Star Bar have both said in recent days that they’re closing for a time for “remodeling.” Both of which are age-old “we’re not going to admit we’re finished, but we’re finished” official statements. Especially, when, if you’re Union, you throw in something about “new investors.”

But if Star Bar is merely delaying the inevitable, it’s really putting on a show. It’s Facebook page is littered with posts about “expansion” and “remodeling.” Bob the Builder is the FB icon. But a tipster just told me that there’s a For Lease sign outside of Star Bar.

I’ve called and emailed owner Larry West for comment. I’ll keep you posted.

Anyone out there got any insight in either of these? Will you miss em if they’re gone?
