In a couple of weeks, three galleries will open exhibits of work by women artists. Is September women’s art month? Here’s the lineup:
“3 Women Who Paint” brings work by pastel artist Virmarie DePoyster of North Little Rock and mixed media artist Holly Reding and painter Emily Wood, both of Little Rock, to the Heights Gallery Sept. 16. The gallery says the show will “represent 3 women, 3 surfaces and their belief in the communicative power of color.”
Rhonda Hicks of El Dorado and Sarah Noebels of Paris will show together in “L’esprit de la Fleurs and The People I Have Known” at Cantrell Gallery, starting Sept. 10. The show will feature tarpaper collage and ceramics.
Photographers Rita Henry, Adrienne Taylor and Nancy Nolan will open the show “95 percent in the Moment” pm Sept. 18 at Gallery 26. It will be the fourth time the photographers have shown together at the gallery. Some of Henry’s photographs, including the one above, were made with a salvaged 80-year-old view camera.
I’ll be posting more images in the weeks to come.
