Al Bell, the soul music icon and Arkansan, will the this weekend’s featured guest of the Tavis Smiley radio show, aired by Public Radio International.

Bell, who founded headed up Stax Records and served as vice president of Motown Records, was recently given an honorary doctorate of Human Letters by Philander Smith College, his alma mater.

The nationally-syndicated show airs on KUAR 89.1 Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. (Heads up—KUAR airs different episodes each day.) You Fayettevillians can pick up the episode on KUAF 91.3 on Saturday at 9 a.m.
