Peter Jackson, the Oscar-winning director of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, took a break from filming “The Hobbit” on Friday to hail the release of the West Memphis Three on his Facebook page. On the agenda: happiness, cheers, and a rather stiff poke at Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel for making the WM3 take the Alford plea rather than just persuading prosecutors to reach a resolution that wouldn’t have involved them trading a guilty plea for their freedom. The plea deal was all about the money, Jackson said. Good stuff.
