If I ran the world, I would drop all my other responsibilities and head down to Arkadelphia to see “Solastalgia,” a co-exhibit by fiber artist Louise Halsey and painter Susan Chambers.
As explained on the announcement of the show, at Henderson State University’s Russell Fine Arts Gallery, solastalgia is a word coined by Australian philosopher Glenn Albrecht as “the pain experienced when there is recognition that the place where one resides and that one loves is under immediate assauilt.”
Hence Halsey’s linen and wool weaving “Dream Facade” and Chambers acrylic and cards on wood “House of Cards — Fire,” seen above. The show runs through Nov. 2. Venues take note: The artists would like to bring the exhibit to Little Rock.
