The Stella Boyle Smith Trust has given the Carroll Cloar painting above, “Waiting for Queen Elberta at the Peach Festival,” to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Cloar, known for his pointillist paintings of Delta farm country, painted “Waiting for Queen Elberta” in 1989; it likely recalls the Crowley’s Ridge peach festival. The painting was recently offered for sale by Greg Thompson Fine Art. The university has not decided where it will display the work, it said in a news release announcing the gift.
