Friend of the Times Greg Spradlin passes along this gem of the late, great Levon Helm playing King Biscuit back in the day.

This is a few moments of brilliance from Rock and Roll Jedi, Levon Helm at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in 1989. Levon came straight from the Ringo Starr All-Star Tour to support and nurture this young festival as it was getting off the ground. In all but one of the clips, he was performing as “Buck Dollar,” a character they were filming for some likely shelved project. The last, all too short clip, is classic Levon. Watch the magic left hand. That’s the trick hand. There’s no one funkier or cooler behind the drums.
