• Egoyan

The Wall Street Journal catches up with director Adam Egoyan, director of the new film adaptation of Arkansas writer Mara Leveritt’s book about the West Memphis 3 case, “Devil’s Knot.” You can read his Q&A with the paper here.

Egoyan calls his film “a fiction based on reality,” which will focus on the mother of one of the murdered boys (played by Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon) and a private detective working for the defense (played by Oscar winner Colin Firth). After what he called “an intense search,” Egoyan cast virtually unknown actors James Hamrick, Kristopher Higgins, and Justin Castor as Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, and Jason Baldwin, respectively. The film begins shooting in Georgia in the next few days.
