Schools serving grades K-12 can now apply for funding to bring artists to the classroom or for 2013 summer programs through the Arkansas Arts Council’s Arts in Education Mini Grant program, a council news release announces.
The grants pay for artists on the Arts in Education Roster for residencies can last up to 10 days. The release says the programs can be “hands-on, curriculum-based or character-centered artist” residencies.
To apply, go to the Arts Council website. Residencies will be between Oct. 1 of this year and Aug. 31, 2013.
The Mini Grant program also applies to professional development workshops. Applicants may receive a maximum of $2,000, using established AIE program rates for artist fees, travel, meals, lodging and supplies.
Applicants must match grants 1 to 1 with cash or in-kind donations. The news release said schools and organizations in rural and underserved communities that have not had access to one of the Art Council’s AIE grant programs are especially encouraged to apply.
