Pipeline Productions, the promoter behind the Wakarusa and Yonder Mountain Harvest Music festivals at Mulberry Mountain, announced that this year, things are gonna get a little bit country up there.
Thunder on the Mountain, June 6-8, “promises to be the Midwest’s premiere country festival in 2013 and all years to come” and will be “one hell of a country party you do not want to miss,” according to the festival’s website. Like the other two festivals, it’ll be a camping-oriented shindig, with food and craft vendors and lots of outdoor fun, like hiking and swimming. There will also be floating and fishing excursions.
Now, you’ll notice that the dates for Thunder on the Mountain fall on the weekend after Wakarusa. That’s some good festival planning right there. All the staging and everything will still be set up and the likelihood of ideal weather is high. It’ll be interesting for the folks in Ozark to have their annual massive influx of hippies followed the very next weekend by a massive influx of what they’d probably describe as “normal” folks.
No word on the lineup yet for either festival, but if previous years are any indication, look for a Wakarusa announcement in mid January, presumably followed by the Thunder on the Mountain lineup.
