  • The Valley of the Vapors is March 15-19 in Hot Springs.

It’s almost that time again, when hordes of musicians and music fans will swarm Hot Springs for the annual Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival, which is organized by the good people at Low Key Arts (full disclosure: the Arkansas Times is a sponsor of the VOV, because it is an awesome event).

As in years past, the VOV will offer a plethora — a veritable cornucopia, if you will (or even if you won’t) — of diverse and engaging live music for the adventurous listener. Bands from many corners of the globe will perform, including some from Iran, Sudan, The Netherlands, Canada, Ireland, Japan and South Korea. Also: There is a band called Booger Sugar. They’re from New Jersey.

There’ll be workshops as well. Topics include: block printmaking, illustration, breakdancing, and “the logistical considerations of compiling a mixed cassette tape. So hey, you can rock out and expand your skillset at the same time. Efficiency!

There are so many bands playing at the festival that probably the best way for you to familiarize yourself with them is to mosey on over to VOV TV and just let it wash over you.

Lots of good stuff from festival stalwarts to up-and-comers. I am heavily digging this tune by a Canadian band called Single Mothers:

Anyways, there will be something for everyone at VOV, and you can get your pass for the whole enchilada right here for only $43.

After the jump, there’s a press release with all of the pertinent info and a full schedule. Also: dig the poster up there. Nice, huh. That was created by Pat Moriatry, who’s done some really cool stuff.
