This week’s selection from the permanent collection of the Arkansas Arts Center in commemoration of its 50th anniversary is Donald Roller Wilson’s “7:00 P.M. EARLY FALL * FULL MOON * WHILE NAUGHTY BETTY WAITS FOR CAROLINE AND J.J.”

Wilson, who lives in Fayetteville, tells surreal simian stories with his characters Betty and Cookie and such things as floating pickles and cigarette butts. While the content is surreal, the painting style is hyperrealistic.

The painting, a gift of Teresa G. and Dr. William P. Fiser in 2001, was selected for the “50 Works, 50 Weeks, 50 Years” exhibition in the atrium by Patrick Ellis, facility assistant at the Arts Center.
