“Visions of 7 Self-Taught Artists,” on exhibit at Hearne Fine Art, 1001 Wright Ave., features the work of Melverue Abraham, Clementine Hunter, Sylvester McKissick, W. Earl Robinson, Clemente Flores, Alonzo Ford and Kennith Humphrey through Nov. 19. Four of those artists — McKissack, Abraham, Robinson and Ford — will give a gallery talk a week from Saturday, at 1 p.m. Oct. 5.

Flores is from New York; the rest are Southerners: Abraham, McKissick and Ford from Arkansas, Hunter (1886 or 1887-1988) from Louisiana, Robinson and Humphrey from Mississippi. The result: Images of everything from urban street scenes to baseball to cotton fields, uncontrived and refreshing.
