On Friday, Nov. 22, Bill Carter, a former Secret Service agent and native of Rector, Ark., will present a first-hand account of his experience in the wake of President John F. Kennedy‘s assassination. Carter will speak at the Oxford American Annex in Little Rock, with the date marking the 50th anniversary of the assassination.
Carter was finishing his advanced training in Washington when Kennedy was shot. He was assigned to President Lyndon Johnson during the four days of the funeral and also accompanied the slain President’s body to the Capitol and Arlington Cemetery. He was also part of the team of federal agents that subsequently investigated the assassination. There will be a question and answer session following Carter’s presentation. Admission is free, with refreshments available from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the presentation starting at 6. Seating will be first-come, first-serve.
In addition to Secret Service agent, Carter was also a politician, lobbyist, fixer for the Rolling Stones and television producer. He’s also a great storyteller.
