Fourteen artists, 14 mediums: That’s what “Evo- lu- tion” at Hearne Fine Art is about, that and the presentation of work by big-name African-American artists. The exhibition opens Nov. 21 and runs through Feb. 2. A 2014 wall calendar that features some of the work will be released Nov. 28. Here’s the list of artists and their medium:
Lawrence Finney, oil and graphite; Mario Robinson. watercolor, pastel, graphite; Annie Lee, acrylic; Kevin Cole, mixed media; Adger Cowans, photography; Charly Palmer, mixed media; Bisa Butler, fiber art; Chukes, oil, clay; Samella Lewis, printmaking, mixed media; Paul Goodnight, mixed media; Kennith Humphrey, oil, mixed media; Frank Frazier, collage; Sylvester McKissick, acrylic, mixed media; and Alfred Conteh, wood and mixed media.
There will be two receptions Dec. 13, one at 1:30 p.m. and the other from 5-8 p.m., for 2nd Friday Art Night. Gallery director Garbo Hearne will give a talk on the work at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
