“Devil’s Knot,” Atom Egoyan’s adaptation of Arkansas Times contributing editor Mara Leveritt’s book on the West Memphis 3, “Devil’s Knot,” just got a release date. It’ll arrive in theaters and on video on demand on May 9.
The film debuted last year at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it got mixed reviews.
The cast is loaded. Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth headline as Pam Hobbs and private investigator Ron Lax, respectively.
Stephen Moyer (Vampire Bill in “True Blood”) plays Prosecuting Attorney (now Judge) John Fogelman. Bruce Greenwood (“Star Trek”) plays Judge David Burnett. Mireille Enos (“The Killing”) is Vicki Hutcheson, who told police that she, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelley attended a meeting of witches several weeks after the murders, but later recanted in an interview with the Times. Alessandro Nivola (“Junebug”) plays Terry Hobbs, who’s been the subject of scrutiny in recent years. Amy Ryan (“The Office”) plays Margaret Lax, Ron’s wife.
EW.com has more images from the film, including a shot of the actors who play Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, who apparently aren’t the focus in the movie.
