The 8th Little Rock Film Festival came to a close last night with a screening of “Devil’s Knot,” and a Closing Night Awards Gala held at the Old State House Museum. The Arkansas Times Audience Award went to “Korengal,” the Golden Rock Award for Best Documentary went to “Virunga,” the Golden Rock Award for Best Narrative went to “Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter,” the award for Best ‘Made in Arkansas’ Film went to “Sacred Hearts, Holy Souls,” the Special Jury Award for Extraordinary Courage in Filmmaking went to Matthew VanDyke for “Point and Shoot,” the Best Southern Film award went to “Stop the Pounding Heart,” the first-ever Special Jury Prize for Cinematic Nonfiction went to “Ne Me Quitte Pas,” the Best ‘Made in Arkansas” Director award went to John Hockaday for “Stuck,” the Best Actor/Actress ‘Made in Arkansas’ Award went to Ed Lowry for his performance in “Matter of Honor,” the award for Best World Short went to “King of Size,” and the Youth Filmmaking Award went to Connor Leach for “Consequences.” Gov. Mike Beebe also won an award for something or other.
I saw several of these and am happy to see them be rewarded. From my perspective the festival was a huge success.
