For those that don’t know, Summerfest is a series of festivals held the second Saturday of each month, starting in April and ending in October, on historic Park Avenue in Hot Springs. It gives people the chance to see what Park Avenue has to offer. Each month carries a theme, from salsa making competitions to treasure hunts. October’s festival is the Great Park Avenue BBQ Cookoff.

The categories are pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs), chicken thighs (bone in), and an “anything but” category, which is anything but ribs and chicken, and has to be made on the grill. There will also be a people’s choice awarded. The public will get to vote for their favorite team. Trophies will be awarded for first through third place in the rib and chicken categories, and first place in the anything but category.
We are encouraging groups to form teams to come and compete, from BBQ restaurants, law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, and anyone interested. Form a team at work and challenge an opposing company to compete.
