The Fourth of July holiday is just around the corner, and for a lot of people, that means it’s time to break out the grills. The cookout has long been synonymous with meat, but a growing number of people are ditching the ribs and throwing on the vegetables. To celebrate this change in culinary culture, the Bernice Garden will be hosting “A Very Veggie Fourth of July” this Thursday, July 2.
The event will showcase the growing vegan and vegetarian food options in Central Arkansas, as well as crafts and live music. This event is family and canine friendly, with treats for four legged family members on sale from Pup Eats Treats. Other vendors include vegan food from Solfood Catering and The Veg LLC, veggie fair from Box Pupoli, beer from Stone’s Throw Brewing, cool delights from Le Pops and more!
If this event garners a good turnout, the organizers have hopes to host many more on various holidays throughout the year.
The event is free and open to the public, and you don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy all the amazing food. Things will kick off at 4 p.m. and last until about 7 p.m. Ben Brenner, a local blues musician, is providing live entertainment. So, come out and kick off your Fourth of July holiday weekend with a veggie cookout at the Bernice Garden.
