Justus Fine Art and other galleries along Central Avenue in Hot Springs will be open 5-9 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) for the monthly gallery walk. Justus sends words of its lineup: Paintings by Robyn Horn, known for her wood sculpture and adept in two dimensions as well, Rebecca Thompson and Donnie Copeland, and cyanotypes by Beverly Buys.

Horn’s work “Pivotal” (above) draws on the shapes and angles she uses when she works in three dimensions; compare the painting to her sculpture “Already Set in Motion” (below):

Horn has managed to create a Cubist dimension with her rectangles set against that vertical glowing gold.

Buys, on the other hand, flattens out nature in her photograph “Moody,” which I love because it is of a landscape that I relate with happy tromping in fall woods. Thompson’s Maine landscapes and Copeland’s striped abstracts round out the featured offerings at the gallery, 827 Central.

Gallery Central, 800 Central, features works by Sandy Fleming Newberg and the Hot Springs Fine Arts Center continues its show, “A Visible Mark,” of drawings.
