An exhibition of work by one of my favorite self-taught artists, Alonzo Ford of Lexa, is being shown at the Arkansas Arts Center. Ford’s work has been getting a lot of exposure in Central Arkansas in recent years, thanks to exhibits at Hearne Fine Art and Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and it’s good to see more of his work.
“A Little Poetry: The Art of Alonzo Ford” features his highly stylized figurative work in pencil and ink that depicts life in the Delta. He still lives on the farm in the Southland Community where he grew up. The show is part of the ACANSA Festival of the Arts; you can see a schedule of ACANSA events here.
