I was pretty bummed when Kelli Marks, baker extraordinaire, announced that she was closing Sweet Love, the bakery she founded in Little Rock. Kelli is talented and smart in the kitchen, and I’ve always enjoyed the wealth of sweet treats she’s developed, including those delicious macarons you see up there that we featured in Arkansas Made magazine. I had hoped that Kelli would take her expertise to another kitchen, because I selfishly wanted another slice of sweet tea pie when the hot weather rolls around again this year. But while that doesn’t seem to be the case, a recent press release from Little Rock-based dessert box subscription service Treatsie announcing that Kelli has joined their team to work with digital marketing is still good news—we’re always happy to see one of our favorites landing on her feet.

From the press release:

“We are beyond thrilled to be adding Kelli to the Treatsie team. We see a lot of sweets from around the country and she is one of the most creative confectioners we have ever seen,” said Keith Hoelzeman, CEO and cofounder of Treatsie. “That coupled with her background at a creative agency make her a perfect fit to lead our digital content.”

Marks founded Sweet Love Bakes in 2012, where she not only managed the business and marketing of Sweet Love, but also innovated new desserts and flavors that quickly gained a dedicated following. Marks’ creations have been featured in Southern Living, Southern Bride, Eat Smarter, and many others. In 2015, Sweet Love was named by Taste of the South as one of the best places in the South to get cake.

“I am so excited to be a part of the future of Treatsie, this opportunity is the perfect mix of my two passions — marketing and desserts,” Marks said.

Marks has a Master of Business Administration as well as a B.A. in advertising from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Prior to launching Sweet Love, Marks worked at CJRW as a copywriter, collecting numerous gold and silver ADDYs at the state and regional level.

Treatsie is a fun service, and I have discovered lots of fun, new sweets through their various offers and subscription boxes. Best of luck to Kelli, and best of luck to everybody at Treatsie—y’all are helping put Arkansas on the map as a place that knows good eats.
