Stone’s Throw Brewing, the cozy taproom at the corner of Ninth and Rock, will take in the storefront next door for more seating and will now be open on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., owner Ian Beard announced today.

The Tuesday hours will be part of Stone Throw’s “Hops & Hope” partnership with the Beast food truck to support charitable causes: $1 of every pint sold on Tuesdays will go to a local charity. For April, the charity is Diverse Youth for Social Change; May’s is Preserve Arkansas. Stone’s Throw’s “Faith & Fermentation” event the first Tuesday of the month will be held in the new taproom annex at 6 pm.
Stone’s Throw is also open 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. A news release is on the jump.

STONE’S THROW BREWING EXPANDS TAPROOM
New space brings increased seating, greater selection & extended hours
Little Rock, AR, March 30, 2016– Stone’s Throw Brewing released details today about newly expanded service at their Little Rock location. The addition of a formerly separate storefront brings increased seating to the taproom, and equipment upgrades allow up to 14 of the brewery’s products to be available for customers. Days of operation are also seeing an increase, and the public can now visit the brewery Tuesday-Sunday.
“The brewery taproom has been a hit since we opened it to the public in 2013, attracting local beer lovers, tourists from all over the world, and neighborhood regulars to gather over great beer. We’re excited to expand our seating, selection, and hours of operation to host our guests for even more memorable experiences.”

The original taproom space, modeled after European-style neighborhood pubs, occupies two store-fronts on 9th Street. The spaces were previously combined by Baker’s Liquor, the building’s main tenant from the 1950’s-90’s. A third storefront that had historically been a barber shop and most recently Ninth Street Vintage became available last fall. The new space increases seating capacity by 50% and allows the brewery more room to accommodate private parties and large groups.
“Our taproom space has always been intimate, like so many places you see in Old World towns and villages. We wanted to preserve that feel while making room for a few more customers to come enjoy a pint with us. I think we did a good job of accomplishing both goals with this expansion.”

To incorporate the new “annex” space, barn doors were added to the wall that had formerly separated the locations. Like the original renovations on the building before opening the brewery, most of the work was done by the Stone’s Throw ownership. Kimberly Cabinets of Cabot replicated their original work on the taproom’s red oak bar with a smaller version for the annex area. A new cooler added six taps for draft beer and cider. The set up allows the annex to be shut off from the main taproom to host private parties.
“We [Stone’s Throw Ownership] had all agreed that we weren’t going to go through all the trouble we went through to renovate our original space before we opened. But after seeing a couple of estimates of what it would cost to hire the work out, I said that on second thought we could get it done a lot cheaper if we just did it ourselves again. So that’s what we did.”

In tandem with the increased seating and selection, Stone’s Throw taproom is increasing hours of operation to be open on Tuesdays from 4:00-9:00pm. The new Tuesday hours will be part of the brewery’s “Hops & Hope” initiative with the Beast food truck to support causes in the community. $1 of every pint sold in the taproom on Tuesdays will be donated to a local charity. “Diverse Youth for Social Change” will be the beneficiary for April, followed by “Preserve Arkansas” in May.

I was surprised how many people kept wandering in, having no idea what was going on and just looking for a beer. Opening on Tuesdays lets us expand the spirit of giving all month long while giving us a chance to work with our friends at Beast to accommodate thirsty and hungry customers! ”

Stone’s Throw Brewing is the product of four guys—Theron Cash, Brad McLaurin, Shawn Tobin and Ian Beard—who met in the local home brew club, the Central Arkansas Fermenters. After doing most of the work themselves to turn a century old building in Little Rock’s MacArthur Park Historic District into a production facility, they began brewing operations on July 4, 2013 and opened a taproom on August 1, 2013. Stone’s Throw Brewing specializes in small-batch, artisanal beers that are both creative and drinkable.
The Stone’s Throw Brewing tap room is open to the public Tuesday-Thursday, 4:00-9:00 pm, Friday 4:00-10:00pm, Saturday 12:00-10:00 pm, and Sunday 11:00 am-9:00 pm.
