Guy Bell, owner of Drawl Gallery, has announced the names of the artists whose work has been chosen for “The Gun Show,” set for May 21-June 17 at the gallery. The exhibition is in collaboration with the Oxford American magazine, which will host a panel discussion on the culture of the gun on June 6.
Artists selected for the show include Anne Lemanski (Spruce Pine, N.C.); David Zacharias (Spartanburg, S.C.); Ryan Steed (Memphis); Maude Clay (Sumner, Miss.); Lorin Michki (Huntington, W.Va.); Rebecca Starry (Anchorage, Alaska); Robyn Horn of Little Rock; Keith Thomson (Calgary, Ala.); Daniel Cassity and David Rose of Hot Springs; Dayton Castleman of Rogers; Steven Schneider of Goshen; Marc Manack of Fayetteville; Nancy Floyd (Atlanta); Dusty Mitchell (Mountain Home); Bryan Hoppers (Knoxville, Tenn.); Jim Ramer (New York); Bill Price (Memphis); Carly Drew (Tigerville, S.C.); Brooks Dierdorff (Orlando, Fla.); Marcus Journey (Mobile, Ala.); James Volkert and Ayrton Zawatsky, both of Conway; Ben Yeager (North Carolina); Michael Nott (Nashville); Tom Richard of Monticello, and Adam Kirby (Chattanooga, Tenn.) Chad Alligood, a curator at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, was curator.
There will also be a selection of Drawl’s artists in the show.
A ticketed reception and awards ceremony is set for 6-8 p.m. at Cache Restaurant ($50 general admission, $75 VIP gets you into 5 p.m. private reception). Call 680-1871 to reserve. Awards of $2,500, $1,000, $500 and two $100 prizes will be made.
