Dr. Stanton Thomas, the curator of European and decorative art at the Brooks Museum of Art in Memphis, will give a talk tonight (April 21), “Bouguereau and the Hazards of Love,” in the lecture hall. There will be a reception at 5:30 p.m. and the talk follows at 6 p.m.  Best Impressions restaurant will be open for the event. Tickets are $10 for nommembers; members get in free.

The talk is in conjunction with the Arts Center’s exhibition of “Admiration,” which Bouguereau (1824-1905) painted in 1897. The work is on loan from the San Antonio Museum of Art.

Thomas was the curator of the terrific “The Crossroads of Memory: Carroll Cloar and the American South” on exhibition at the Arts Center in 2014.
