The 59th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Arts Center, to open June 9, will feature 73 works by 57 artists from seven states, the Arts Center announced today. Read the list of accepted artists in the news release here. Of the 57 artists, 42 are from Arkansas. (Others may have Arkansas ties.)
As was the case last year, the juror was presented with more than a thousand entries from which to select. This year’s juror Betsy Bradley, director of the Mississippi Museum of Art, chose significantly more works than last year’s juror, art dealer Elizabeth Garvey, who chose only 52 works by 30 artists.
Besides the image above, of Fayetteville artist Kellie Lehr’s 6-by-4-foot oil, you can see images of some of the Delta selections at my previous Delta post, which took advantage of the connectivity of Facebook. Winners of the show awards, including the $2,500 Grand Award, two $750 Delta Awards and a $250 Contemporaries Delta Award will be announced at the member preview June 8. Bradley will give a lecture at 6 p.m. that evening.
