Though I love pizza, it takes the draw of truly good pizza to tempt me into ordering it. I’m excited to say I’ve found another restaurant that serves pizza worth ordering. My friend had been raving about The Pizzeria for months before we finally found the right evening to go together. The relatively early hour found the restaurant already filling, but we sat immediately at the bar. The non-traditional bar stools sat two, creating a much better proximity for conversation between friends.
The menu at The Pizzeria includes the basics like cheese and pepperoni, but it also includes a few more innovative options. As frequent readers may have picked up on, if salmon is available, it’s usually my first choice. I never thought it would be available on pizza, but, Smoked Salmon pizza is available, and it comes with arugula, goat cream cheese, parmesan, and lemon along with an over easy egg placed right in the center. The fresh, thin crust was at once crispy and barely doughy, and with quality ingredients like these on top, it was damn good.
Because I always love an Old Fashion, that’s what I went with here. On the one hand, the drink was well-crafted. On the other hand, when given the option of crushed ice or a cube of ice, I went with a cube, not expecting a rock taller than the glass itself. While it certainly kept my drink cold, it also made it somewhat difficult to drink.
The Pizzeria is a winner, with a great menu, plenty of parking, and friendly service. A relaxed night out for beers and pizza deserves better than average, so elevate it with an easy trip to the Heights.
