A distinguished threesome — Les Christensen, Shea Hembrey and Brian Young — have been tapped by the Arkansas Arts Center to judge the 60th “Delta Exhibition” to run May 25 through Aug. 26.
Christensen is director of the Bradbury Museum of Art at Arkansas State University and an sculptor whose work has appeared in six Delta Exhibitions. Shea Hembrey of Hickory Grove is a conceptual artist who rose to fame in 2011 with “seek,” a biennial of art by 100 artists, all of whom were Hembrey himself. (See his Ted Talk, “How I Became 100 Artists,” here.) Young is director of the Baum Gallery at the University of Central Arkansas and is a former Arts Center curator; prior to returning to Arkansas in 2016, he was curator at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.
The Delta is open to artists from Arkansas and contiguous states. The jurors will also award a $2,500 Grand Awards and two $750 Delta Awards. The Contemporaries group at the Arts Center will award $250 to a work of their choosing.
Deadline to enter is Feb. 26. Entry forms are online at arkansasartscenter.org/delta.
